Welcome to the big league. Bare Metal Dedicated Server. Unlike any other, this is the most complex hosting environment and so are the logistics surrounding its configuration and management [ be it initial or for the long term ]. The latter can be discussed if and when required. But what it really is a Dedicated Server? - To keep in line with the previous examples [ see Shared and VPS Hosting explanation of each environment ], a Dedicated Server is your virtual world equivalent of an entire building. That's what you get with a Dedicated Server. So the questions like custom or off the plan, location, size, layout, scope, furniture, extras, how it will be managed, by whom, and so on, and last but not least, the options of to whom you will turn to, to help you answering all of those questions, would be more or less the same as in a real life scenario.
Those aspects should not be taken lightly, or otherwise it can turn into a very costly endeavor. Its success depends on many factors that cannot be addressed by a shiny brochure or covered in a web article. Done right, for the right reasons and at the right time, would ensure the desired continuity of your online presence. - Please note that this is an extremely simplistic, in layman terms and as close as possible nontechnical description, of this type of hosting environment.
N * CPUs
The quantity, brand and type of server CPUs.
N * GB/s Uplink
The minimum guaranteed connection speed. All dedicated server traffic is provided via multi-redundant unmetered network connections.
N * GB ECC RAM
The min/max capacity possible and type of RAM Modules. Each memory module is 32 GB in size. ECC [ Error Correction Code ] RAM is the common standard for servers memory.
N * GB SSD/SATA
The number, min/max 'units' capacity, size and type of physical hard disk installed/available for each server. SSD is smaller and depending on the intended use, more reliable. SATA have bigger capacity, in truth equally reliable, however, these types of hard disks are nowadays, replaced by their more modern counterparts.
N * IPv4 & IPv6 / * N Subnet
The amount of IP addresses allocated to your server. You get 2 x IPv4 [ the old type, IP address ] and 1 x IPv6 [ the modern type of an IP address ] /64 Subnet. A 'subnet' is a set of IPs. A /64 subnet has more, a load more than 64 IP addresses.
Note: All configurations above are minimum, and the type of servers and their features might not reflect the stock presently available. Please contact us if you require a dedicated server before ordering. This is equally the case with 'colocation' [ the practice where the client provides the server ] and Webgo Network the operational logistics.
Operating System
CentOS 7 | One of the most used and reliable 'linux' server OS. As Windows there are many out there available, but unlike Windows they are developed by different software companies and therefore, the cost and purpose vary accordingly. CentOS 7 is one of them.
Software Stack
A minimum set of software packages installed on a server or hosting plan to allow seamless functionality of your online presence. LAMP [ Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP ] and/or LEMP [ Linux, Nginx, MySQL, PHP ] are the most prevalent ones. For VPS, Cloud and Dedicated servers different 'software stacks' are available if required.
BackUp & Storage
We backup & store all your server content daily, on separate storage media, with up to 3 days in areas retention. Just in case. If required an off site NAS [ Network Attached Storage ] option is available.
Server Security
In addition to the free TLS | SSL Certificate offered to protect your communication, we install as standard on all Dedicated Servers a software firewall and, an 'optional' [ license based ] antivirus package to protect your content against malicious attacks. Also, if required a hardware firewall can be rented and installed in front of your server as an additional layer of security.
Note: There's an infinite array of both hardware and software add ons available that would be impossible to list and cover in its entirety. Contact Us for more information.
Generically speaking, if you do not break any law, there should be none. However, on moral grounds [ at least ], you should not, and may not use our hosting infrastructure to promote hatred, bullying, discrimination [ on any ground ] post messages [ or allow others to post ], that can be construed as calls to acts of rebellion or terrorism, or post and promote any content or conduit pertaining to pornography [ of any kind ]. None of those would be allowed nor tolerated. Should that be the case, your site and content would be deleted, it's content submitted to any law enforcement agency if required, and your account terminated. No exceptions whatsoever.
